• VOLEZ, VOGUEZ, VOYAGEZ EXHIBITION IN NEW YORK

Louis Vuitton presents “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez - Louis Vuitton” at the former American Stock Exchange Building.

To mark its latest stop in New York, “Volez, Voguez, Voyagez - Louis Vuitton” has absorbed the city’s local colour with an animated concept video posted here. In this alternate urban dreamscape, a subway car stamped with the iconic Monogram pauses at a station in the sky where it gets tagged with a golden V. As the train sails on, other playful, distinctly Vuitton motifs appear as stylized graffiti.

  • LOUIS VUITTON REINFORCES ITS COMMITMENT TO THE ENVIRONMENT

    - “Great design, sustainability and a great business do go hand in hand” - Michael Burke.

As part of the 25th-anniversary celebration of LVMH’s commitment to the environment, Louis Vuitton CEO Michael Burke, referring to the Horizon luggage, showed that improving a product’s environmental performance will give House customers ever-greater pleasure in their product experience.

Horizon luggage is the most eloquent testament to this fact. The ultra-light materials of its construction – the aluminium cane, 50%-finer canvas, composite body – make it lighter and sturdier than ever before and provide the traveller with remarkable comfort, in addition to reducing CO² impact by 20% during use.

Beyond the highly technical patented parts, the use of local supplies, coupled with the entirely France-based assembly, limits transport requirements upstream and ensures both access to the savoir-faire required and respect for appropriate environmental practices (our workshops are ISO14001 certified).

Lastly, Horizon’s design is what makes it so sturdy, promising the long-lasting use critical to reducing the environmental footprint: 70% of repairs to this luggage can be performed in a Louis Vuitton store within 48 hours, minimising transport and offering high-quality service: "Sustainability is actually the friend of designers."

  • «VOLEZ, VOGUEZ, VOYAGEZ» EXHIBITION IN NEW YORK

New York City is the next stop for “Voguez, Volez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton”, from October 27 until January 7, 2018.

The global journey of “Voguez, Volez, Voyagez – Louis Vuitton” continues with its arrival in New York, where the former American Stock Exchange will provide a grand backdrop for this immersive exhibition. Curator Olivier Saillard once again leads visitors through the history of the House as a thematic journey brought to life by Robert Carsen’s dynamic scenography.

With this latest instalment, the longstanding presence of Louis Vuitton in America is sure to resonate, from George Vuitton’s participation in the 1893 Chicago World Fair, to archival items that belonged to such illustrious clientele as Ernest Hemingway, Lauren Bacall, F. Scott Fitzgerald, as well as the Rockefeller and Vanderbilt families. Displays of collaborations with artists Stephen Sprouse and now Jeff Koons will allow visitors to see the House codes interpreted with a vibrant and distinctly local influence. There will also be a section dedicated to the artisans’ workshops, highlighting how savoir-faire has driven the story of Louis Vuitton all along.

  • LOUIS VUITTON VENDÔME EXCLUSIVE COLLECTIONS

The Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme presents the House’s full product offer and exclusive collections.

On the ground floor, natural light from the extensive number of windows and doorways illuminates the leather goods, accessories, textiles, fragrances and, on the Place Vendôme side, a full range of jewellery and timepieces. Louis Vuitton men’s universe is upstairs on the mezzanine. On the first floor, there is women’s ready-to-wear, shoes and accessories, presented in a beautifully airy, high-ceilinged space with richly intricate Versailles parquet. On the second floor, travel-related items – from Louis Vuitton City Guides and travel books to luggage – share space with the Objets Nomades, a collection of designer travel and home related objects.

The Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme also presents two working ateliers, representative of the House’s ancestral savoir-faire. The Haute Joaillerie atelier, hidden away discreetly under the eaves, is where Louis Vuitton’s jewellers will transform exceptional precious stones into the House’s most exclusive high jewellery.

The Maison’s opening was marked by the creation of three exceptional high jewellery sets, specially designed and produced by the Haute Joaillerie ateliers. Inspired by the most recent Louis Vuitton high jewellery collection, Conquêtes, the pieces highlight the House’s passion for remarkable craftsmanship, artistry, and the most beautiful gemstones, such as diamonds, red spinels and emeralds.

In the Atelier Rare & Exceptional, celebrities and the House’s most prestigious clients will have the chance to discover remarkable pieces from the latest collections. These can then be fitted and customised by the atelier’s in-house artisans, who will also be available to fashion exclusive red-carpet gowns.

  • INSIDE MAISON LOUIS VUITTON VENDÔME

On the 4th of October 2017, Louis Vuitton opened the Maison Louis Vuitton Vendôme, at 2 Place Vendôme, newly designed and re-instated by architect Peter Marino.

The Maison is situated in two hôtel particuliers – classic Parisian townhouses – which, over the years have been home to courtiers, nobles, aristocracy, the occasional princess and the future emperor Napoléon III. Once known as Hôtel Baudet de Morlet and Hôtel Heuzé de Vologer, these hôtels were completed in 1714, but greatly altered over the years, including a particularly destructive “renovation” in the 1980s.

Architect Peter Marino has now returned these two buildings to their former glory: floors have been returned to their 18th-century grandeur, ceilings to their original heights (nearly five metres on the first floor), and the façade, designed by the architect of the Palace of Versailles, Jules-Hardouin Mansart, has been sensitively restored.

Throughout the Maison, Peter Marino has deftly blended the old and new, employing techniques and materials that reference French history and craftsmanship, while carefully integrating ultra-modern designs. Behind the original façade, the Maison has been designed to be opened and filled with light. The extensive use of glass, light-coloured stone, artisanal wall coverings, and beautiful parquet and stone flooring allows each floor to subtly assert its unique character, while remaining part of a coherent whole.
