Louis Vuitton latest advertising campaign, "Spirit of Travel", at the heart of Paris.

The photographer Patrick Demarchelier has captured the essence of the Louis Vuitton woman, embodied by the actress and friend of the House Michelle Williams.

Taking its name from "rue des Capucines" in Paris, where Louis Vuitton opened his first store in 1854, the elegant Capucines handbag is softened by a delicate and feminine cut inspired by the lace croquets technique. A homage to exceptional leather craftsmanship.

The Objets Nomades Collection, enriched with 10 new items, will be presented during Fuori Salone in Milan, from April 4th to 9th at Palazzo Bocconi.

Created in 2012, the Objets Nomades collection keeps alive Louis Vuitton’s long tradition of beautifully crafted travel objects. Some of the world’s most renowned designers have since imagined stunning travel-inspired Objets, which have then been made by Louis Vuitton.

The limited editions and experimental prototypes that make up the Objets Nomades collection all pay homage to the House’s special orders of the past and add the defiantly contemporary visions of creative designers from around the world: Atelier Oï, Maarten Baas, Barber and Osgerby, the Campana Brothers, Damien Langlois-Meurinne, Nendo, Gwenaël Nicolas, Raw Edges, Patricia Urquiola, Marcel Wanders, and, most recently, India Mahdavi and Tokujin Yoshioka.

Today, there are 25 Objets Nomades and 10 among them will be presented for the first time during Fuori Salone in Milano. From a hammock to a deckchair, from a swing chair to a foldable stool. Each Objet embodies the same ideals: a love of the beauty of fine materials, the possibility of forms and carefully balanced proportions, complex and meticulous craftsmanship, and close attention to detail.

    Modern sculptures

To present the Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter Collection by Nicolas Ghesquière, Yoann Lemoine, a.k.a. Woodkid, created the modern sculpture “Six Girls.”   Taking hundreds of pictures of Atty, Kristen, Mariam, Hannah, Daphne and Hoyeon, he made 3-D scans of their different forms, transforming each girl into an avatar, a video heroine for our time.  Digital glitches create an effect of erosion, like water on a stone statue.

A selection of compelling details from the Louis Vuitton show.

Louis Vuitton’s Fall-Winter collection for 2017 pushes back borders and remixes stylistic traditions: the great American sportswear classics and Slavic accents, inspirations drawn from the fashion trends of the past and their transposition into the world of today, urban classics and the magnetic pull of rural folklore.
The House's signature handbags, and notably the Petite Malle, have been revisited with this lively dialectic in mind.
