The exhibition Icons of Modern Art. The Shchukin Collection will take place at Fondation Louis Vuitton from October 22nd 2016 to February 20th 2017.

One of the most prominent events of the France-Russia Year of Cultural Tourism (2016-2017), this exhibition pays tribute to one of the greatest art patrons of the early 20th century, Sergei Shchukin, the visionary Russian collector of French modern art.

Thanks to the generous contribution of the Hermitage Museum and the Pushkin State Museum, which took part in the creation of the project, the exhibition will have the opportunity to present a significant ensemble of 160 major pieces by the Impressionist, Post-Impressionists and Modern masters from the Shchukin collection. There will be a particular emphasis on the art of Monet, Cézanne, Gauguin, Rousseau, Derain, Matisse and Picasso, alongside works from Degas, Renoir, Toulouse-Lautrec and Van Gogh.

On the Place Vendôme, the Maison Louis Vuitton captured the essence of Paris. This fabulous epicenter of French elegance, becomes the stylistic heart of the collection for Spring-Summer 2017.

The Maison Louis Vuitton, nestled in the capital, Paris, populated by women whose long jersey dresses float as they move, dream of triumphing in tailored suits, dazzled with seductive rainbow python, adorned with a whisper of “Epi flame” embroidered on “caviar lace”. Lovers of intellectual complicity, they sport fanciful t-shirts that reference the heads of the 18th-century fauns decorating the façade of 2 Place Vendôme.
