Louis Vuitton presents from its Objets Nomades collection, an exclusive turquoise-coloured edition of the Bomboca Sofa by Fernando and Humberto Campana, at Design Miami/ from December 6th to 10th.

Launched in 2012, Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades is an ever-expanding collection of limited-edition, collectable furniture by renowned designers, which is inspired by the House’s historic Art of Travel, while reinterpreting its essential spirit.

The Bomboca Sofa, named after sweets served at weddings and children’s parties in Brazil and meaning “very good”, is a modular piece that was originally inspired by cloud shapes and colourful round sea apples. The result is like a puzzle in which eight removable cushions are arranged in a rigid, leather-covered shell.

Other Objets Nomades making their Design Miami/ 2017 debut include the pieces created by Atelier Oï such as the Swing Boat, the Belt Chair and the Spiral Lamp with its twisted straps of leather. Also presented are Patricia Urquiola’s Palaver Chair in a mix of wood and woven sheets of perforated leather, India Mahdavi’s Talisman Table in leather marquetry, and Marcel Wanders’ rocking Lune Chair and leather Diamond Screen.

A selection of Objets Nomades will also be visible at the Louis Vuitton Miami Design District Store.

Louis Vuitton’s artistic director, Nicolas Ghesquière, received the Lincoln Center Corporate Fund’s Women’s Leadership Award at the annual gala in New York.

Last night, Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall was filled with the spirit of Louis Vuitton for the annual Lincoln Center Corporate Fund Gala, which hosted the Maison and Nicolas Ghesquière. In addition to honouring the artistic director with its Women’s Leadership Award, the event consisted of a one-night exhibition of his designs, spanning fashion collections to architectural installations.

Co-chaired by Steven R. Swartz, President and CEO of Hearst; Glenda Bailey, Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s BAZAAR; Christina Baker; Fiona and Stan Drukenmiller; and Miroslava Duma, the non-profit Corporate Fund Gala raises necessary, unrestricted, corporate financial support for Lincoln Center’s ten resident arts organisations.

Among the evening’s highlights was a unique concert curated by Woodkid featuring the New York Philharmonic with a special performance from Catherine Deneuve who recited a spoken word dedication to art. When the moment came for Ghesquière to accept the award, Jennifer Connelly and Paul Bettany were there to bestow the honour upon him.

The gala’s host committee was represented by Delphine Arnault and Michael Burke, as well as ongoing friends of the Maison such as Michelle Williams, Nicole Kidman, Riley Keough, Ruth Negga, Xavier Dolan, Justin Theroux, Jaden Smith, Cindy Sherman, Noomi Rapace, Léa Seydoux, Hidetoshi Nakata, Laura Harrier, and Sophie Turner. Hearst Magazines Chief Content Officer Joanna Coles, Lincoln Center Chair Katherine Farley and Lincoln Center President Debora L. Spar were also among the guests.

Louis Vuitton is the latest honouree among a distinguished list that includes Carolina Herrera, Karl Lagerfeld, Stella McCartney and Maria Grazia Churi and Pierpaolo Piccioli representing Valentino. Over the past four years, the event has raised $5.5 million which helps ensure that Lincoln Center remains a beacon of outstanding artistic output.
