For Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye, the controversial photographer Oliviero Toscani revisits Cretto di Burri, Alberto Burri's monumental masterpiece of land art, which covers part of the ruins of Gibellina, a Sicilian town devastated by a massive earthquake in 1968. Using high-angle, close-up and wide-angle shots, Toscani adds his own conceptual inscriptions to the expanse of blindingly white concrete slabs traced with a network of lacerations to commemorate the tragedy. His pictorial approach creates compositions verging on abstraction.

An art director, influencer and provocateur known throughout the world, the Tuscany-based photographer Oliviero Toscani has made headlines with his many campaigns for United Colors of Benetton, as well as a shock campaign raising awareness of anorexia. Continuing to work for leading international magazines including Vogue, Elle and Harper's Bazaar, he remains a renegade, challenging rules and shattering the status quo.

Inspired by the House's travel heritage, the Louis Vuitton Fashion Eye collection evokes cities, regions or countries through the eyes of fashion photographers, from emerging talents to industry legends. Each title in the series features an extensive selection of large-format photographs, together with biographical information and an interview with the photographer or a critical essay. After Louis Vuitton City Guides and Travel Books, this third collection presents travel photography with a fashion perspective, as the chosen photographers all infuse their images of great cities, faraway places or dream destinations with their unique vision.
